Hello March

How many weeks? 21  Almost 5 months

Clothing size? 6-9 months no "feeties" attached

Sleeping pattern?  10-6:00 then he plays until 6:30 in his crib  sleeping on belly now

Movement?  rolling over from belly to back and back to belly, sitting supported, pulling himself up into the sitting position

Food?  rice cereal, formula, apples, sweet potatoes, bananas, green beans, squash and pears

Favorite Toy?  vitamin baby horse...Nick reaches for it when he sees it.  He is also spending more time in his exersaucer (??)

Funniest Moment?  Nicholas has started blowing raspberries...so cute.  Also the other day I was making his baby food and he was sitting in his highchair in the kitchen watching.  Every time I turned around he would fake couch.  I would turn around and say "oh my Nicholas are you ok?"  Then he would smile. I would turn back around and it would start all over again.  He is sooo cute!!

Heartbreak Moment?  Now in the morning when I go to get Nick out of the crib he has a huge smile on his face and he is starting to reach for me.  Also I informed my students the other day that I was postponing my leave one more time until the end of April.  I was reading the blogs the other day and one little boy wrote, "Mrs. wilt I miss you.  Please don't change your time again." And another little boy wrote "I miss you Mrs. Wilt"  broke my heart.  I do miss them but I love being home more!

Thoughts…  Choosing a daycare this week and getting things set up for Nicholas' baptism

This past weekend was so busy.  Friday my mom came over to spend the mid morning with us.  We went to Target and ate Nick ate squash for the first time. It was very watery and I thought it stunk.  Nick didn't seem to like it very much.  At times I thought he was gagging on it.  It was homemade so maybe we will try the store kind later.  His favorites are pears, green beans and sweet potatoes.  When Ryan came home from work on Friday and we went to Meghan and Fran's to see their new baby Nina.  Sadie and Fran greeted us at the door and Sadie was so excited to see Nicholas.  We had a wonderful visit.  Nina is so tiny and beautiful.  I bought the cutest little summer dress for Nina and a little purse with play makeup in it for Sadie.  Sadie loved it.  Rich and Sarah were also there so we got to see Julian too.  Sadie got to hold Nicholas.  We had her sit on the couch and put Nick in between her legs.  There were lots of cameras.  Can't wait to see the pictures.  Julian and Sadie were playing and Nicholas watched everything that they did.
On Saturday Omie and Poppy (Ryan's parents) came to visit.  Nicholas was all smiles and it was a nice relaxing day.  At times Nick was a little cranky...he had too many bananas and is now struggling a bit...if you get my drift.  So no more bananas.  Nick got a cute little outfit and a book from Omie.  She also brought him the book "The Little Engine that Could".  I can't wait for him to hear that story.  We all had a wonderful time!!
On Sunday Grammom and Granpop (my parents) came over.  As soon as they came in my dad ran right for Nicholas.  As my dad was holding Nick, he was talking to him and all of the sudden Nicholas burst out into this pitiful cry.  My poor dad.  So my mom took Nicholas and finally he calmed down.  Nicholas just kept staring at my dad...it was so cute.  Because it was a rainy day after they left we just snuggled for the rest of the day.  It was the best way to end the weekend!!

Good-bye February!

How many weeks? 20

Clothing size? 6-9 months no "feeties" attached

Sleeping pattern?  10-6:30  sleeping on belly now

Movement?  rolling over from belly to back and back to belly, sitting supported

Food?  rice cereal, formula, apples, sweet potatoes, bananas, green beans and pears

Favorite Toy?  vitamin baby cloth dolls!!  He won't go to sleep without them.  One is a bear and one is a horse

Funniest Moment?  Nicholas now pets the dogs when they walk by.  He puts out his hands and waits for the dogs to come over to him.

Heartbreak Moment?  When he cries and his bottom lip quivers.  Also Monday night was the first night I let him cry in his crib for his nuk.  I put him to bed with the nuk in his mouth and he spit it out.  I let him cry for five minutes while I cried downstairs on the couch.  Then I went up and put the nuk in.  He spit it out and I let him cry for two more mins.  Then put the nuk back in and he fell asleep.  Last night he didn't cry....yay.  I hope it worked!!!!  But something tells me it can't be that easy.

Thoughts…  When would be a good time to have another???  :)

Yesterday Nicholas and I had a playdate with Robin and her boys Ben and Jacob...they are too cute. The poor little guys are both teething and I realized that this teething business lasts for a long time, not just for the first tooth.  Maybe we can get Nick to pop out four teeth at one time...wishful thinking.  Yesterday we were sitting in Robin's kitchen and Ben wanted to sit (really stand) on my lap to see the "baby".  So I picked him up and while he was on my lap I asked to see his teeth.  All of the sudden he leaned in and gave me a kiss.  Sooo cute...definitely the highlight of my day.  Of course as soon as we got home I tried to teach Nicholas how to give a kiss...he wanted no parts.  Both boys loved Nicholas which makes me feel so good knowing that one day soon they will be great friends.  Jacob loves "petting" Nicholas and playing with his toys.  In no time Nicholas is going to be playing back...can't wait.

New Things

How many weeks? 19

Clothing size? Nick has stopped wearing anything that has feet attached.  I think it is ridiculous that he was to wear 9 month outfits that have feet...so he wears 6 months shirts and pants.

Sleeping pattern?  9:30-7:00  sleeping on belly now

Movement?  rolled over for the first time this week

Food?  rice cereal, formula, apples, sweet potatoes and bananas

Favorite Toy?  teething book...I love that his favorite toy is a book!!!

Funniest Moment?  When I dance, Nicholas starts moving all around and smiling

Heartbreak Moment?  Nicholas laughed for the first time on Monday night.  It was the sweetest sound I have ever heard and brought me to tears.

Thoughts…  Remember to enjoy every moment!

We spent Saturday and some of Sunday down in Cape May with my family.  It was so nice just to get away from the house and hang out.  As soon as we got down there we unpacked the car and then my mom and I went to the Acme to get stuff for dinner.  When I came back Ryan, Dad and Dave were all surrounding Nick on the couch.  I looked at all of them and asked "What's wrong?!?"   Ryan looks up at me and says "You just missed his first roll."   NO!!!!!  I can't believe it.  I have been waiting weeks to see it and I missed it.  Of course Nick did it again and again so I did get to see it....but not the first.  That of course got me thinking how many other firsts will I miss when I go back to work...but then trying to think more positively I thought of all of the firsts I have gotten to see.  At least I am lucky enough to be staying home as long as I am.
So back to Cape May...we had a great time.  Celebrated Dad and David's Birthday and spent time with Rose and Dave's neighbor Tom.  Nicholas of course was the center of attention and loved it.  He was spoiled.  We woke up Sunday morning and went to breakfast and then said our Goodbyes and came home.  The best part of Sunday was laying down on the couch with Nick and taking a nap.
Monday Ryan had off so we spent the day running errands and hanging out.  As Monday came to a close, we were all in the living room and I was leaning over Nicholas talking to him when all of a sudden I heard a giggle.  I wasn't sure if I had imagined it so I continued to talk to him and I heard it again and again.  Ryan and I were so excited.  I of course started to cry.  It is amazing the things that make me happy now that I am a mom.  Who would have thought that a laugh would bring so much joy!!
Tuesday morning we woke up to a great surprise....no work for Ryan...so another day spent together.  I did get my house clean too.  I wonder how long it will stay this way?!

18 Weeks

How many weeks? 18

Clothing size?  6 months, they are getting a little small

Sleeping pattern?  in crib at 9:30, 10 and sleeps until 6:30, 7

Movement?  Kicking legs, arching back, holding head up, lifting head while on belly, getting close to rolling over

Food?  rice cereal, formula, apples

Favorite Toy?  links, froggy blanket

Funniest Moment?  we were eating dinner the other day and I looked over at Nicholas and said Hi...he responded back Hi.  Well it sounded just like it.  He also did it to my mom and Dr. Murphy.

Heartbreak Moment?  getting shots at the drs.

Thoughts…  I am so excited to see what Nicholas does next!

We had our 4 month appointment yesterday.  Dr.Murphy said Nicholas is doing fabulous.  He is a little over 12 pounds...this worries me a bit but she said he was fine.  I just thought with all that he eats he would weigh more but he has had diarrhea  for the last few days so that could be why. He is 25.5 inches long...my goodness.  Everyone commented on how happy he was and if he is always this way.  Of course we said yes.  Nicholas smiled and "talked" to everyone.  We got the ok to start solids...good thing considering we had already started...LOL.  All was good and then it was time for the shots.  The first one was given orally.  Nick did such a great job taking it.  Everytime Dr. Murphy brought it to his mouth, he opened up for more and when there was nothing left he got a little upset.  What a porkchop.  Then he got two shots in his leg.  These were the worst ones yet.  Usually Ryan gets upset and I just tell Nick that he is fine.  But this time my eyes filled up.  Nick was just looking at me and then his bottom lip started to quiver and then he screamed.  As soon as Dr. Murphy was done I picked him up and started rocking him.  He was very cranky when we got home. And today he has a very low fever and is still cranky and sleepy.  Still has his appetite though and is loving the apples.  I have been snuggling him all day.  Love him!!!

Aha Moment...

So I have a really hard time keeping up with my blog.  My main purpose of it is to keep family and friends posted about Nicholas and what is going on in our lives.  Some days I have lots to write and then I can go weeks without writing anything.  So...I was checking out some other blogs and "stole" some ideas...Thanks Robin Martin!!!!
Every Monday I am going to post these questions and complete the "survey"about Nicholas.  Of course you know I can't wait until Monday to do this so here we go...

How many weeks? 17 1/2

Clothing size?  6 months

Sleeping pattern?  6.5 hours

Movement?  Kicking legs, arching back, holding head up, lifting head while on belly

Food?  rice cereal, formula

Favorite Toy?  yellow teething rings, links

Funniest Moment?  when Nicholas screams at his toys

Heartbreak Moment?  putting away smaller clothes...so little

Thoughts…  I love being at home with Nicholas!!

Pajama Day!!!

I cannot believe how cold it is outside today.  We had such a beautiful day on Monday.  At least it will get warmer this weekend.  Hopefully we can get out for a walk or two.  So because it is so cold, Nicholas and I have decided to make it a pajama day.
Last night Nick went to bed at 9:45.  He was up a few times between 3 and 5 because he lost his binky. I thought for sure he would be up by 5:30 6:00.  So at 7:15 when Ryan flew out of bed, I got a little nervous.  Nicholas has become somewhat of an alarm clock for Ryan...guess he didn't go off this morning...lol.  Ryan was moving pretty quickly trying not to be late this morning and I went in to Nick's room to make sure he was ok.  There he was, my little angel, sleeping.  He didn't wake up until 7:45.  What a great sleeper!!  I wonder what tonight will bring!
